Key Stage 3 (Years 7-8)

Drawing on the Newham Agreed Syllabus, students consider both secular and religious perspectives of the nature of belief and practice as a vital part of the human experience. The ethos for study is based around an integrated multi-faith thematic system of modular units which form the basis for progression and revision at and throughout K/S 3 and beyond to GCSE level, where many areas are revisited and developed further.

Key Stage 4 (Years 9-11)

At KS4 all students study the WJEC syllabus full course Religious Studies GCSE.  The course is comprised of two unit papers, both of which are assessed at the end of Y11 as a 100% examination. Throughout the course students will reflect on secular and religious perspectives concerning human and life experience such as creation and the environment, relationships,  the question of God, sanctity of life issues, and  inequality.

Extra-Curricular Activities

 Students have benefited from visits to Regent’s Park mosque and Neasden mandir. They have also taken part in a number of Enrichment Day events that have included external visitors and activities that have focussed on themes such as forgiveness, the Holocaust and prejudice.

Intervention

Homework is an important part of extending teaching and learning and contributing to a student’s progress. Revision classes are readily available to support students on a drop in basis or at a designated time at lunchtime and/or after school.

Important Dates

Both the short and full courses are assessed externally by public examination. There is no coursework. Examinations for both syllabuses take place in early May and mid June.
